ASTM A335 P22 Alloy Steel Pipes
The ASTM A335 P22 Pipe specification covers seamless ferritic alloy steel pipes intended for high-temperature service. This specification includes pipes with nominal and minimum wall thickness designed for pressure piping applications. ASTM A335 P22 pipes contain alloying elements such as chromium and molybdenum, which contribute to improved high-temperature strength and enhanced resistance to oxidation. The addition of chromium also supports better tensile strength, hardness, and yield strength under operating conditions.
Molybdenum present in the alloy steel composition increases the material’s strength, improves resistance to elevated temperatures, and enhances hardenability and impact properties. It also helps maintain structural stability by limiting grain growth during high-temperature exposure. In combination with chromium, molybdenum contributes to improved creep resistance and reduces susceptibility to embrittlement under prolonged service conditions.
