The ASME SA179 states that pipes or tubes having minimum wall thickness and which are seamless cold drawn and have low carbon content can be used as heat transfer apparatus, condensers and heat temperatures. It covers the steel tubes having 1/8 to 3 in outside diameter. The tubing is smaller than this specification or wall thickness under 0.015 in is not allowed. However, the ASME SA179 specification does not totally guarantee that the product is accurate or up to date. There can be some mistakes on behalf of the manufacturer.
